Scuba Diving

Who can dive?
Just about anyone can become a diver. Scuba diving is an equal opportunity sport open to men, women and children of any race, religion, or national origin.

What do divers do?
Scuba divers do more than check out the fish. Depending on your interests, you can specialize in a skill for your own pleasure or make diving a career option.

Recreational Divers are the largest group of divers – those who dive for the fun of it. Once you get your certification, you can further your diving education by specializing in a skill. Some specializations include night diving, fish identification, search and recovery, underwater photography or videography. Careers include divemasters and instructors; instructor trainers and examiners; resort, dive center and live-aboard personnel.

Where do divers dive?
Scuba divers dive wherever there is water: oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, quarries, waterways, canals, mines, springs, abandoned oilrigs, and old missile silos.

When is the best time to dive?
Any time of year is a good time to dive. Just because it is fall or winter, it doesn’t mean you can’t dive.

Myrtle Beach Diving

Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand area offers a wide variety of spectacular scuba diving sites. Here you'll find artificial reefs, WWII ship wrecks, Civil War ship wrecks, and multilevel ledges. The visibility varies from day to day, but averages above 20 feet inshore and reaches as high as 100 foot on the offshore trips. With an abundance of marine life and the possibility of finding a genuine Civil War artifact, Myrtle Beach gives divers an exhilarating experience each time they are in the water. Warm climate, clear water, and a diversity of reefs and wrecks are just a few of the reasons the Myrtle Beach area is the place to explore the underwater world.
